TORSIONAL VIBRATION OF SINGLE AND TWO ROTOR SYSTEM

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS TO BE CARRIED OUT:
1. To study the Torsional Vibration ( undamped ) of single Rotor shaft system
2. To study the free vibration of two rotor system & to determine the natural frequency of vibration theoretically & experimentally
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:
FOR SINGLE ROTOR SYSTEM :
One end of the shaft 1 gripped in the chuck &heacy flywheel free to rotate in ball bearing is fixed at the other end of the shaft. The bracket with fixed end of shaft can be clamped at any convenient position along lower beam. Thus specially designed chucks are used for clamping ends of the shaft. The ball bearing support to the flywheel provides negligible damping during experiment. The bearing housing is fixed to side member if main frame.

FOR TWO ROTOR SYSTEM :
The setup consists of two disks having different mass moment of inertia are clamped one at each end of shaft by means of collate & chucks. Mass moment of inertia of any Disc. can be changed by attaching the cross lever weights. Both Disks are free to oscillate in the ball bearings. This provides negligible damping during experiments.
