REFRIGERATION CYCLE TEST RIG (Primer)

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS:

  1. To study all components used in refrigeration system.
  2. To study the Vapor compression Refrigeration cycle.
  3. To determine the Refrigeration Effect, Work Input, Actual C.O.P., Carnot C.O.P., Theoretical C.O.P., Relative C.O.P., Ton of Refrigeration, and Plant Efficiency.

EXPERIMENTAL SETUP :

  1. Compressor : Hermetically sealed compressor.
  2. Condenser : Air Cooled condenser made out of

copper pipe & Aluminum fins of matching

capacity with fan cooling.

  1. Evaporator : Copper Coil immersed in water.

The evaporator is insulated from

outside to prevent heat loss.

  1. Expansion device : Capillary Tube & Thermostatic

expansion valve.

  1. Energy Meter : One each for power measurement

of compressor & evaporator heater.

  1. Pressure Gauge : 2 Nos. for H.P., L.P. measurement
  2. Suitable filter/drier.
  3. Hand Shut Off type Service valve.
  4. Dimmerstat to control power supply to heater.
  5. Rotameter for Refrigerant flow measurement.
  6. Immersion type electric heater.
  7. Solenoid valve Castle Italy make.
  8. Set of thermocouples.

CONTROL PANEL : 

  1. 12 Channel Digital Temperature Indicator
  2. HP-LP Cutout : Make Ranco /Danfoss or Equivalent.
  3. Switches : For compressor, condenser fan, solenoid

valve & evaporator heater.

  1. Voltmeter : 0 – 250 V.
  2. Ammeter : 0 – 15 A.
  3. Thermostat : Ranco or equivalent
