ICE PLANT: (30 Kg/Day)

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS: 

  1. To study all components used in refrigeration system.
  2. To study the Vapor compression Refrigeration cycle.
  3. To study the concept of Ice formation.
  4. To determine the Refrigeration Effect, Work Input, Actual C.O.P., Carnot C.O.P., Theoretical C.O.P., Relative

C.O.P., Ton of Refrigeration, and Plant Efficiency. 

EXPERIMENTAL SETUP: 

  1. Compressor: Hermetically sealed compressor.
  2. Condenser: Air Cooled condenser made out of copper

pipe & Aluminum fins of matching capacity

with fan cooling.

  1. Brine Tank: Brine Tank made out of stainless steel sheets,

insulated from all sides with provision to hold

cans, evaporator coil at one side & an

arrangement to drain the brine solution.

A door is provided at the top of this tank.

  1. Expansion device: Thermostatic expansion valve

(Danfoss make).

  1. Energy Meter: For power measurement of compressor.
  2. Pressure Gauge: 2 Nos. for H.P., L.P. measurement
  3. Suitable filter/drier.
  4. Hand Shut Off type Service valve.
  5. Ice Can : 9 Nos.
  6. Set of thermocouples. 

CONTROL PANEL : 

  1. 12 Channel Digital Temperature Indicator
  2. HP-LP Cutout: Make Ranco /Danfoss or Equivalent.
  3. Switches: For compressor, condenser fan, &

a agitation system.

  1. Voltmeter: 0 – 250 V.
  2. Ammeter: 0 – 15 A.
  3. Thermostat: Ranco or equivalent
