HEAT TRANSFER IN FORCED CONVECTION

RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS TO BE CARRIED OUT:

  1. Average surface heat transfer coefficient for a pipe losing heat by forced convection to air flowing through it can be obtained for different air flow & heat flow rates.
  2. Reynold’s number & Nusselt number for each experimental condition. To Plot these values on Log – log graph. To Plot on the same graph the Dittus-Boelter correlation.
  3. To plot & comment on the surface temperature distribution along the length of pipe.

EXPERIMENTAL SETUP :

  1. Band Heater Assembly.
  2. Forced convection pipe assembly.
  3. Blower Unit with orifice & manometer arrangement for measurement.
  4. Set of thermocouples.

CONTROL PANEL :

  1. 12 Channel Digital Temperature Indicator
  2. Dimmerstat : 0 – 2 A.
  3. Main’s On/Off Switch.
  4. Voltmeter :0 – 250 V.
  5. Ammeter :0 – 3 A.
  6. Blower On/Off Switch.
